Warner Bros. on Madonna’s deal with Live Nation October 19, 2007

News about the Madonna deal with Live Nation are everywhere. Obviously it made the headlines of MTV News too. And we want to show you their article becuase it features an interesting comment from Warner Bros. about the deal. Here it is…Madonna finalized her massive 10-year deal with Live Nation on Tuesday (October 16), although the exact terms have yet to be disclosed. The deal involves her new studio efforts, tours, merchandise, DVD releases, sponsorships, licensing agreements, fan club, Web site, and TV and film projects. “The paradigm in the music business has shifted, and as an artist and a businesswoman, I have to move with that shift,” she said in a statement. “For the first time in my career, the way that my music can reach my fans is unlimited. I’ve never wanted to think in a limited way and with this new partnership, the possibilities are endless. Who knows how my albums will be distributed in the future? That’s what’s exciting about this deal — everything is possible. Live Nation has offered me a true partnership, and after 25 years in the business, I feel that I deserve that.” She did, however, have some kind words to say about former label Warner Bros.: “I appreciate their hard work and value the many relationships I have developed over the years with the label in the U.S. and around the world. I have an album coming out with them next year, and I’m excited about it. We still have work to do together.”

And Warner Bros. returned the enthusiasm in its own Tuesday statement: “We congratulate Madonna on her future plans. She is one of the most remarkable artists of our time. We are excited to issue her upcoming album next year. We are also honored to own her catalog of recordings from the past 25 years, as well as to manage her library of songs for an extended period of time. From all of us at Warner Music Group, we thank Madonna for a valued and enduring partnership.”

Live Nation also announced a new Artist Nation arm that will launch with Madonna and have divisions dedicated to dealing with an artist’s recorded music, merchandise, concert tickets, sponsorships, marketing and more.

Thank you Annie for this amazing song. This video is directed by Mike Owen & Mark Lanthorne.

There are few resources to help medicate sufferers or educate the people about the prevention of HIV/AIDS. The trip will be documented across online, TV and print media produced by Annie Lennox herself.

Included among the group of superstar voices are TAC local activist members own vocal group, known as “The Generics“, whose CD of social / political activist songs inspired Annie to make Sing a reality. Annie then personally approached each of the female artists by letter and the recordings were made all over the world in each artist local studio over the spring of 2007.

H&M

Hennes & Mauritz AB (operating as H&M), is a Swedish clothing company, known for their inexpensive and fashionable clothing offerings. It was established in Västerås, Sweden, in 1947 by Erling Persson, though at the time it only sold women’s clothing and was called Hennes, Swedish for “hers.” In 1968, Persson acquired the premises and inventory of a Stockholm hunting equipment store named Mauritz Widforss. Included in the inventory was a supply of men’s clothing, prompting Persson to expand into menswear. Accordingly, he renamed the store Hennes & Mauritz, later abbreviated to H&M. H&M has more than 1300 stores in 29 different countries and has more than 60,000 employees. Stefan Persson, Erling’s son, became CEO in 1990 and Chairman of the Board in 1998. The Church of Sweden is a major shareholder in the chain.

Though its price point is in the discount fashion range, H&M markets its brand also to high-end fashion consumers, both through ads in fashion magazines and the placement of stores in areas more typically associated with more expensive designer stores. In November 2004, selected H&M stores offered an exclusive collection by fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. The press reported large crowds and that that the initial inventories in the larger cities were sold out within an hour, although clothes were still available in less fashion sensitive areas until the company redistributed them to meet with demand. In November 2005, the chain launched a collection by Stella McCartney and, in November 2006, by avant-garde Dutch designers Viktor & Rolf. H&M launched another collaboration with Madonna in March 2007, designed by the star, and in 2007, another design with Kylie Minogue was launched in Shanghai, China
